Places to visit in Zanzibar

Stone Town
Once a flourishing trade town, Stone Town is now a UNESCO World Heritage site – and with good reason. To wander the maze-like warren of narrow alleys and crumbling facades is to lose yourself in history for a few hours. You’ll be greeted at every turn by intricately carved doors and the ever-present aromas of the local cuisine, and should seek out the fascinating old slave markets, Persian baths, National Museum and House of Wonders – an imposing palace built for the second Sultan of Zanzibar.
Beaches, Forests & Spice Plantations
Soft, white sand invites visitors to the beaches of Zanzibar, while swimming, kite-surfing and scuba-diving keep the more adventurous coming back. Beach-goers are sheltered from the Indian Ocean by a barrier reef that makes for awe-inspiring marine safaris. Zanzibar’s Jozani forest is home to the island’s flagship species, the red colobus monkey, but other rarities are hidden in the jungle too. A tour through one of Zanzibar’s authentic, traditional spice plantations will broaden your culinary horizons and ensure you have something to remember the island by.
